SAN DIEGO, CA - Will Venable, outfielder and 2010 World Series hero, is on his way out of San Diego. The young outfielder is making his way up the California coast after the Padres completed a trade with the San Francisco Giants. In return, the Padres received San Francisco’s 3rd round rookie draft pick. After hitting only 2 home runs during the 2010 regular season, Venable stepped to the plate in Game 7 of the World Series with 2 outs, a man on, and his team down by 2 runs. In a moment fans will never forget, Venable smashed a Jonathan Papelbon fastball deep into the right field seats in Anaheim for a game-tying home run. “Will had the biggest at-bat in team history since I took over,” manager Tim Stoops commented. “Our backs were against the wall and Will came through. It’s tough to see him go.”
